Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has put in a formal requst through his agent Drew Rosenhaus to be traded.
“The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine,” Briggs said. “It’s just how the business works. It’s not going to take away from what I do on the field. I’m 100 percent a Bear, until I’m not a Bear anymore.”
Briggs is looking for a raise, but general manager Jerry Angelo and the rest of the Bears upper management aren’t listening to his request.
The Bears have the money to give Briggs a raise since they’re $19.3 million under the salary cap this season. But they obviously don’t feel it’s worth it to invest anymore money into him.
Briggs’ current contract has three years left on it. He’s set to make $3.9 million this season, $4 million in 2012, and $6.5 million in 2013. He right now wants the Bears to increase his pay for this season and possibly double it to give him around $6.5 million, which he’s supposed to make in 2013.
Right now the Bears have declined to comment on the situation.
