New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson made an appearance on XX1090 Radio in San Diego and indicated that he’s seriously contemplating retirement.
“I am contemplating retirement,” said Tomlinson. “That’s what I told my coaches and told my agent and everybody. That’s exactly what it is. This is the first time in my playing career that I’ve actually honestly thought about this may be it for me. That’s kind of where I am right now.”
Tomlinson will be a free agent this offseason and believes that it’s “hard to say” whether or not the Jets actually want him back. He believes they’re looking to get younger at the running back position.
Tomlinson still believes he has enough left to contribute to an NFL team, but the hard part is finding a team that he’d fit well with and he wants to find a team where there’s “the hope of a championship.”
There’s no doubt Tomlinson is a hall of fame player, like so many great players he may end up retiring without a Super Bowl ring.
