San Francisco 49ers kick returner Kyle Williams received numerous death threats and hate mail from fans after committing two crucial mistakes in last Sunday’s loss to the Giants in the NFC Championship.
There was one letter that Williams received that was very touching. It was from 7 year-old Owen Shure of Los Angeles California.
The letter said the following:
Dear Mr. Williams:
We just watched the Playoff game. I feel really bad for you but I wanted to tell you that you had a great season. you sould be very proud, so I wanted to say thank you.
I am your #1 FAN!
Owen Shure
Los Angeles, CAp.s. your awsome
The immature and stupid fans that decided to send Williams death threats can learn a lot from a child.

i of course as a 9er fan was very upset about the two crucial mistakes kyle williams made against the giants but when i sat down and thought about it ive seen him all season make more good plays then bad ones .hes definetly not a special teams player though but can be used as a receiver with his speed im pritty sure hes gonna learn from this and come back stronger then ever next year
kyle williams, you are going to be a great player and make many 49r fans forget what happened in that game with the ny giants, as a NE patriot fan i am soooooo happy we dont have to play you guys the 49rs in the super bowl,
Owen Shure,
You sure are a very special person and made my day reading you letter to Mr. Williams. Keep that great attitude you are going to have a very wonderful life.
Awesome letter. I hate the 49ers but I felt bad for Kyle. I know what those blunders can do to a player and this is just what Kyle needed. Owen is the ultimate fan.
Thanks for sharing this letter! I felt horrible for Williams. Football is a game, and children see it that way. Owen is the ultimate fan and he can forgive a guy who messed up. But Owen will still love his team and the players. As adults we should follow his lead. Williams will have other chances to succeed, and he should remember that Owen and other fans will love him and the niners. Mostly because they are fans. Not haters!
At 67 I an watching my 46 super bowl. Thant nice letter from a 7 year old really puts football and life in perspective. You and Mr. Wiliams will always be winners. John from whitinsville
Mr. Owen Shure well done!
Thank God there is someone with a heart in San Fran
I certainly do not want to wish Mr. Williams any ill well, but if I was the head coah, I would have fired his sorry *** on the spot. It was UNFORGIVEABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL the manner in which he carried that ball on the punt return. Fumble? what fumble ,he practially dropped the fu—— thing. He barely had it in his hands. This was not a jarring tackle, you can forgive a guy for dropping the ball when being hit hard. He was barely touched! Far too much ego from a guy that thought he should be the ‘Player of the game”, and make the game winning punt return. He put his hopes of personal glory over that which was best for the team – hold on to the fu—– ball, so that the team can win. He deserves all the **** heaped on him for being so selfish.
Wow. Talk about the immaturity of adults being exposed by kids.
It was a blindside hit. It looked to me like he was trying to break out of the pack to get to the open field. In order to do that, you gotta move your arms AND legs to get momentum. The timing was right for that fumble to happen. It wasn’t greed, you moron. He was trying to get free to use his speed, which is kinda the reason he was chosen to field the punt.
You lost. Grow up and deal with it. You make class acts like Owen Shure ashamed.
Don Shebib, you are a jackass.
That’s a class act. As a Cowboy fan, I remember Leon Lett and his annual boo boos that cost the team a score, sometimes the game. But a little girl wrote him a letter of support after the Thanksgiving Dolphins game when Leon touched a blocked kick. The Dolphins recovered and kicked the winning field goal. The girl said in her note, “Don’t feel bad, Leon. People make mistakes. Why, last year in the Super Bowl, some guy got the ball ripped out of his hands before he scored a touchdown. Mistakes happen.”
…and of course, it was Leon who goofed on that memorable play as well.
Kids are so cute.
Wow! That letter from Owen Shure certainly put the game of football in perspective. Everyone makes mistakes. Although Mr. Williams is a highly paid professional athlete, he is human. They all are. We are all guilty of placing these guys on some sort of pedestal – treating them like Gods and when they fail, as humans will do, we freak out. Why so judgmental? He has a talent; I guarantee you that not one of the people (?) hating on him could play one down in the NFL. Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson on protecting the ball at all times and how fame can turn on you!! Stay strong Mr. Williams. You will be fine.
A remarkable letter Owen; your parents should be very proud of you!
Now to the rest of the crowd. As a Saints fan, I was routing against the 49s; and low and behold, you lost to the Giants the same way we lost to you, by turnovers. But you know what? “It is part of the game.” You continue to say, “He gets paid a lot of money to hold on to the ball.” Well, there are a lot of guys on the other side that get paid a lot of money to knock it out of his hand; and they did! So we move on, and learn from it. Learn from the 7 year old, and enjoy the game.
