Former New York Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins believes Darrelle Revis needs to put his contract issue aside and be a team leader. He believes that after last seasons locker room debacle, Revis needs to be there as a leader no matter what.
“They need consistency right now,” Jenkins said. “He has enough money. This time, I think he needs to get out there and make it more than about just getting the dollars.”
Even though Revis has two years left on his contract, he’s made it clear that he’s not sure if he’s going to hold out for a new contract, but so far it looks like he doesn’t plan on participating in the Jets offseason program.
“I know Revis is always going to do what’s best for him and what’s best for his business, his brand, but, in my opinion, at the end of the day, he has to realize he has to be a leader,” said Jenkins.. “He’s that guy now. Regardless of what’s going on with (Mark) Sanchez, (Tim) Tebow … when they step out on the field on defense, everybody is looking at him. There’s no doubt in my mind the offense is as well.”
