According to Nakia Hogan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, an affidavit that was filed by Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and team trainer Scottie Patton shows that Vilma has undergone three knee procedures since November of 2011.
One of the procedures included Vilma flying to Germany in order to have blood-spinning procedure administered.
Vilma and Patton are hoping that the NFL will allow him to get treatment at the Saints facility while he’s suspended, in order for get the proper treatment.
“I was affected by that injury throughout the remainder of the season and believe I was only ably to play at 70-75 percent efficiency,” Vilma said in the affidavit, per Hogan. “I was forced to miss five games because of the injury and played in three or four others against the advice of doctors.”
What’s really interesting is that Vilma’s knee we never mentioned on the Saints injury report during the season. For the record that’s against league rules.
