Jon Beason’s recovery process is ahead of schedule

Jon Beason was once an All-Pro before being struck by the injury bug in back-to-back seasons. Beason was put on IR in 2011 and 2012. He’s only played 5 games in the last two seasons.

Beason is entering his seventh season in the league, and is recovering from offseason knee and shoulder surgeries. He said himself that he is actually ahead of schedule. Beason participated in OTAs, but it was very limited participation.

Beason also plans to participate in the Panthers’ minicamp next week:

“I’m feeling pretty good. At this point I can’t be more happy with it.” “Training camp was the goal, but I’m feeling so good we’re going to work in a little bit in the minicamp.”

Beason will also have to adjust to life as a weakside linebacker. He has played the majority of his career at middle linebacker, but the Panthers plan to keep Luke Kuechly in that position.
