New York Giants majority owner John Mara really likes the way his team looks heading into the upcoming season. He believes this year’s crop of players is just as good as their team from 2011 that defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.
“I look at us on paper and I think we’re every bit as good as that team,” Mara said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. “But there’s a long way to go between the paper and proving it on the field. But we have enough talent to compete with anybody.”
As long as the Giants defense can get a pass rush and Eli Manning can work his magic late in the season, I really believe the Giants are still a Super Bowl contender, despite the fact that they’ve missed the playoffs in three out of the past four seasons.
