We just reported that Denver Broncos head coach John Fox may have to undergo heart valve surgery.
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Fox will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair his aortic valve and will be out for four to six weeks.
Fox was slated to have this procedure in the offseason but held off. Ironically, he flew to North Carolina during this weeks bye to meet w surgeon about a February procedure. Just spoke with John Fox. He’s having a procedure on his aortic valve on Tuesday in North Carolina. He will remain there for 2 weeks and miss about a month to 6 weeks. Foxie said its something he knew he’d one day need but it deteriorated faster than they feared. Although he’ll be away from team he’ll still be involved.
This is a huge loss for the Broncos. But the good news is they should have Fox back by mid to late December.
Denver defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio would make the most sense to fill in as the interim head coach because of his previous experience.
