Saints general manager Mickey Loomis recently said they’ll use the franchise tag on tight end Jimmy Graham this offseason if they have to.
“That’s real unfortunate,” Graham said regarding the possibility of the Saints using the tag on him.
Like many other NFL players, Graham would prefer to not play on the one-year franchise tag.
“If that happens, it doesn’t really matter what I prefer,” he said.
“I’m not keen on the franchise tag, that would be really unfortunate, but that is really all I have to say about that one,” he said.
Players don’t like the franchise tag because it’s only a one year deal and if they happen to get seriously injured during that season it won’t help them maximize their earnings as a free agent the next season.
