According to the Boston Herald, Jimmy Garaoppolo’s throwing coach taught him how to throw like his new teammate, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. This might be why the Pats took the former Eastern Illinois signal caller in the second round.
Garoppolo, meanwhile, has been under the wing of former NFL quarterback Jeff Christensen the past decade. And if Garoppolo’s motion looks familiar, well, you can thank No. 12 for that.
Christensen, who runs Throw It Deep, an academy for quarterbacks and receivers in Lockport, Ill., teaches all his kids how to throw based on the principles of Brady’s delivery. Why? Because it’s that good.
“I came to the conclusion after Tom won his second (Super Bowl), just watching him, how he does what he does, that mechanically, in my mind, Tom had the best motion in football,” Christensen told the Herald last week. “At that point, everything I taught the kids was based off of what Brady does.”
