According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, a league source has told him that the New York Jets are starting to realize that Mark Sanchez may not be the answer at quarterback for them.
In order to avoid a media storm, of course the Jets won’t acknowledge their concern with Sanchez at this point.
Florio indicated that the Jets will quietly explore other options at quarterback and won’t disclose anything until they’re ready to make a major move.
Sanchez is set to make $8.5 million for the 2012 season, which is far more then he’s worth. The Jets could decide that the best option is to trade him and draft another quarterback in April.
In the end, the Jets will have to decide very soon whether or not Sanchez is good enough to remain their starter for years to come.

Marks not the problem. Schotty gotta go and we need a better running game.
Mark is the problem, every time the jets lose a game its because make make a mistake,
How about Rex Ryan’s big mouth? Is that going to be traded?
Actually, the Jets SHOULD start to “realize” that Big Mouth Rex Ryan is not the answer for a head coach.
Mark’s play and his decisions and execution were much worse this year than last year. Instead of improving his skills he had indeed gone Backward in every phase! The Jets will never be a playoff team if his skills stay at this level ! If they could get a proven winner or a dilegent, dedicated to becoming a better Quarterback they would be Much Better Off next Year!!!!
First of all it’s not the NY Jets anymore… that train left the station when they moved to Florham Park, NJ. Is Woody the coach or is Rex the coach? If Rex is the coach he needs to hire a new offensive coordinator. Yes Rex has a big mouth but it’s not the problem… the fact the team sucks is the problem.
Sanchez is still a kid and he needs to make an adult decision… either he wants to put the time required into his job or not. Or not he can chase all the tail he wants and just migrate out of the NFL after a few years. He isn’t a starter now that’s for sure. It’s a tough thing all that money and temptation… every woman with a pulse throwing themselves at him. The Jets should bench him and let MB play the rest of the season then he and the team can plan on what comes next for him. They can’t win with him this year in his mental state.
Confidence is great but really trying to out psych the New York Giants is pretty stupid and as we saw ineffective. Covering up their super bowl emblems in the stadium… what are they 6 years old. I know MB wants to retire this year but perhaps he can stay one more so this QB thing can be worked out but Shotty can’t be there if they expect to win. All the loudmouth Rex antics can’t make a super bowl with Shotty there.
The team is broken and all that talent can be made to work with present leadership and there is none because Rex can’t fire Shotty because of coach (oops… I mean owner) Woody. Do the fans deserve a super bowl or playoffs every year?… of course not but they do deserve the teams best effort for all their time and money and loyalty they invest in the Jets. Talking the talk is fine but it gets silly when you show up and play high school quality football. Shotty is so bad that you could have connected all the tvs to a computer and let the fans call the plays… most votes and that’s the play and I bet it would have been far more exciting to watch and much more productive.
The Jets are entertaining though and very well paid for their performances but it’s just acting this year and nothing else.
I was at the game last Sunday
Mark sanchez totally s-ucks and needs to be replaced bottomline
He has no clue and underpressure folds up
just a real A_s clown that had a great agent and got him a great contract
Plain and simple he S-ucks
The Jets sold us on a Super Bowl run and the only run us fans went on was a toilet bowl run to throw up from the product they put on the field
FU Jets I wasted tons of money this year on a horrible product it will be a longtime till I spend another dime in MetLife stadium
Same old Jets fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me
No O lone no D line
linebackers and safetys to slow
no running game and a tight end that cant catch a pass
a quaterback that hits 50 percent of his passes and most are under 10 yards ( how could you miss that many)
This spells a suck-A_s team
They sign “those 2 receivers” and then they don’t throw to them. Bart Scott can’t cover his grandmother. Get rid of him. They can’t cover a tight end. Cromartie gets faked out of his jock. He can’t tackle someone in a wheelchair. Then he returns a kick off from 6 yards deep and runs the opposite way of his blocking and gets out to the 12 yd line?? Are you kidding me!!! Brandon Jacobs runs wide on you and gets 28 yds?? He’s as fast as a dump truck!!!! What has Calvin Pace done since he’s been here??
As I’ve always said, Rex Ryan has a habit of destroying his players. You can’t reach your potential or play your best under that kind of guidance and direction.
i dont understand this…Do i think mark has alot to learn? of Course, but they were in the playoffs in the last two years….At the end of the day only one team can take the Trophy…I think alot has to do with Rex Ryans promises. Making quick changes isnt the answer. Mark Sanchez is doing a good Job but he will never be a Ben, Eli or Brady.
I agree Sanchez will never be an elite quarterback but you cannot mention Eli in the same breath of Brady, Ben, and Rodgers. Not one bit Eli got lucky winning a superbowl and is no better than sanchez IMO.
Day 2 after crushing loss my opinion is Mark sanchez is an overrated ASSCLOWN
Last I looked football is a team sport.
The Jets offense was built on a good running attack the past several seasons. This style of play is great for Sanchez as a young QB. Now that the running game has gone south, he’s struggling. That’s a coaching issue and the O-line has 1. not gotten the blocking done up front to get the ground game going. 2. the pass protection has been like a pee-wee team. Too much passing for Sanchez (beyond his skill set) with an O-coordinator that should be looking for work next year. He abandon a style of offense that worked for both Sanchez and the defense… long drives based in a good running game, which set up a limited passing game, which kept other offensive units and the Jets defense on the sideline. Plain and simple the Jets made errors in judgement in that they brought in too many receivers and needed to focus on the o-line and the running game.
Cromartie has to go… he’s doing what he did with the Chargers plain and simple.
What Sanchez needs is another 4 inches i cant believe how many balls get batted down unless he just telegraphs everything. How bout an Offensive line they stunk this year, how bout a TE anybody see how bad he looked against the gints, how bout some separation from the wide receivers clearly Plax and Holmes are no threat down the field for that matter anywhere on the field, yeah schotty stinks as well, how bout one great draft choice in the last several years, you know like a stud on defense, scouts for the JEST stink, our drafts have stunk… there’s really nothing positive looking forward to next season if anything it looks and sounds like the whole Ryan thing is about to implode. His antics only work when you are winning, when you lose the locker room gets ugly real fast
mark sanchez needs protection we need a right tackle hunter is not the answer we did not address the o-line this pass off season , we also can use a tightend that can block and a fullback that can catch a screen or a short pass up the middle that would help sanchez alot we also need linebackers that can cover tight ends pace and scott not the answer
Sanchez is not the problem. It’s only his third season. The kid has improved his numbers this year over his first two. His strengths rely on the running game and play action passing. With the offensive line in shambles this season, Sanchez has been sacked nearly fourty times. Fortunately he hasn’t been injured. Most of the blame, if not all of the blame, should fall on the person who’s managed to avoid the blame, and that is Schotty. The guy needs to go. The play calling is atrocious. I don’t even think Peyton Manning would succeed in this system. It’s time for Rex to call out Schotty. Period.
Eli IS in the conversation with the elite qbs and is far greater than Sanchez will ever be. Watch him play.
Eli is obviously better than Sanchez, but saying that he performed better last Saturday is a joke.. Eli completed 9 passes!
Coaching is THE problem for the Jets. It starts and ends with Brian Schottenheimer’s dumb ***.
