Jets might name a starting quarterback before training camp

New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was asked if there’s a chance they might name a starting quarterback before training camp begins.

“Oh, absolutely,” Mornhinweg said, per the New York Daily News, “Sure. Absolutely. That’s all part of the process. Absolutely. Everything we do is important. Our meetings are important… the way we go about our meetings, the way we go about our preparation right now with a new system. These are very important things. Every pass we throw out there in OTAs and these practices are important.”

This quarterback competition isn’t very complicated.  It’s obvious that both Matt Simms and Greg McElroy aren’t talented enough to win the job.  In the end, if Geno Smith is ready to take the reins he will, if not you’ll see Mark Sanchez under center.
