According to three sources around the NFL, the New York Jets and head coach Rex Ryan are interested in possibly signing Randy Moss.
Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe confirms that the Jets do indeed have a “definite” interest in Moss.
Mike Freeman of CBS Sports wonders why the Jets are interested in Moss and confirms that the Jets are “seriously intrigued” by him.
Vic Carucci of NFL.com explains that Moss might be a back up plan for the Jets in case they are unable to re-sign Santonio Holmes or Braylon Edwards.
I honestly don’t see why the Jets would be interested in Moss who looked washed up last season with the Patriots, Vikings and Titans. He is a receiver that no longer requires double coverage over the top and can easily be covered one on one. There’s a reason the Vikings released him and he didn’t get a lot of playing time with the Titans.
What the Jets need to do is focus on re-signing at least either Holmes ot Edwards. Even if they aren’t able to retain both guys, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to keep at least one.
