Jets confident Braylon Edwards will play Monday

After the Seattle Seahawks released wide receiver Braylon Edwards, head coach Pete Carroll said they believed he wouldn’t be able to play for three weeks because of a hamstring injury.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t agree with Carroll.

“Obviously, we felt different,” Ryan said, via the Newark Star Ledger.

“He passed the physical, he’s cleared to practice,” added Ryan. “I’m optimistic he’ll be able to play on Monday but I’ll learn on our trainers and doctors. I’ll say this about Braylon — he’s extremely happy to be here, I’ve seen him in the locker room, he’s hugging guys, he’s going crazy. I was happy to see him despite the obvious comment.”

I’m sure the Jets will do whatever they can to make sure Edwards plays on Monday night, since they’re somehow still in the AFC playoff race.
