It might be time for future hall of fame pass rusher Jason Taylor to hang up his jersey and retire.
It was clear this past season that Taylor would most likely not be back with the Jets in 2011 and I believe that will be the case. He had a very average season with only 5 sacks and 36 tackles and I know that he was only in on certain packages. But, he may end up being more of a liability as time goes on.
It also doesn’t make sense financially for the Jets to keep Taylor since he is owed a $10 million dollar roster bonus this season as well. If he wants to return to the Jets and they want him, he will need to restructure his contract.
The best thing for the Jets to do at this moment will be to draft a young edge rusher and develop him into a monster so he can command the double teams that Rex Ryan’s defense flourishes on.
