Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Hatcher told reporters on Tuesday that he plans on testing free agency after this season.
“Oh, I’m going to test the market. I’m going to test the market,” said Hatcher via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “You guys just leave me alone about my contract. I just want to focus on, I’m a Cowboy. I’m not trying to think about that. I’ll let it take care of itself when it happens.
“I’ve got four games to play, to be the best 3-technique in the league, help my team go to the playoffs. That’s my approach.”
Hatcher has put together a great season with 34 tackles, 9 sacks and one forced fumble.
With the Cowboys scheduled to be $31 million over the cap in 2014, I can’t imagine them being able to re-sign Hatcher.
