This shouldn’t be a surprise at all.
With no changes, fair to assume Ryan Fitzpatrick is Texans starter. But Case Keenum had beat out TJ Yates. Could he do so with Fitz in camp?

Let’s be honest, Texans first-year head coach Bill O’Brian had a pretty good idea from day one that he would likely go with Fitzpatrick as his starter once he signed him as a free agent.
Fitzpatrick is a very intelligent person (graduated from Harvard) and O’Brian knows exactly how to use him to protect the football and make sure his running game and defense win him games and not Fitzpatrick.
It’s not that FItz is a bad quarterback, but you can’t rely on him to carry a team to a win.
