We mentioned on Friday that the Pittsburgh Steelers were planning on releasing wide receiver Hines Ward in order to free up some room under the salary cap, since he’s on the books for $4 million in 2012.
Ward posted a message on his Facebook page indicating that he’s willing to restructure his contract to finish his career in Pittsburgh.
“I don’t normally like to respond to rumors, but as I’ve said all along, I want to finish my career with the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Ward wrote on his Facebook page. “And as I’ve already told the organization, I am willing to work with them to restructure my contract to make sure this happens.”
The only problem is that even if Ward gets his contract restructured, it still may not be worth it for the Steeelers to keep him around.
