49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters today that wide receiver Mario Manningham will begin the regular season on the PUP list as he continues to rehab from ACL surgery.
“It’s going very well,” Harbaugh said, via the Sacramento Bee. ” … He’s really feeling now that he can put his leg in the ground and generate some power. It’s exciting, and he’s excited about it.”
This means the 49ers won’t be able to activate Manningham until after week six of the regular season.
This is a tough blow for the 49ers. Manningham is one of their top receivers alongside Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree.
