Hakeem Nicks’ agent on his client missing OTA’s: “It’s a great day to be alive.”

Peter Shaffer, the agent of New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks didn’t have much to say when he was asked about his client missing OTA’s.

“It’s a great day to be alive,” replied Shaffer, per Andrew Brandt of ESPN.

Shaffer knows the Giants are going to need Nicks to show up with Victor Cruz holding out.  The only problem is that if Nicks skips mini-camp and training camp, he can be fined.  So really at the end of the day, Shaffer doesn’t have much leverage as Nicks enters the final year of his contract.

It’s not going to be so great for you when your client fires you… The Giants aren’t going to pay Nicks after pulling this crap. He has a deal he want’s to pull an Osi when fine better hope Randle & Barden don’t show they can do your job. Cruz came out of nowhere when Steve Smith pulled his crap. The Giants have Nicks this year no matter what and they can let him walk. Cruz will get done this month. Next year the Giants can Draft someone or sign a guy like Mario Manningham who know’s the system and has played that number 2 role before.
