New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford has beaten out Matt Dodge for the teams punting job.
Dodge is best known for the “Miracle in the Meadowlands 2″ against the Philadelphia Eagles last season. During the play Dodge received a high snap. But instead of making sure he kicked it out of bounds, he rushed it and booted a line drive right to DeSean Jackson who ended up running the punt back for a game winning ”walk off touchdown”.
Giants fans have been booing Dodge all preseason and will now be happy to know he will gone from the team. The Giants haven’t released Dodge yet, they are trying to trade him right now according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York daily News. If they are unable to trade him, I’m sure they will just cut him. Every NFL team needs to get their roster down to 53 players by 6pm Saturday.
In other kicking news for the Giants, kicker Lawrence Tynes seems like he’ll be healthy enough for the season opener since they’ve released kicker Rhys Lloyd.

You know the defense allowed those 3 touchdowns in 7 minutes… It wasnt all his fault how about the on side kickthat the HC warned the ST players about. How about running the ball 3 straight times and punting and playing prevent or atleast a cover 3 Defense when your up by 3 touch downs. It was bad coaching that lost this game common sense should of taken over you run out the clock and make the other team do the same by taking short over the middle passes… Its a damn shame but the way green bay gave it to us playing them again wouldnt of been pretty playing the way we closed the season.
