Fred Davis didn’t ask to be traded

Redskins tight end Fred Davis was a guest on LaVar and Dukes on 106.7 The Fan and was asked what he thought about the trade rumors swirling that currently include his name.

“At the end of the day, I look at it as I’m a Redskin right now until I hear differently,” Davis said, via the Washington Post. “I want to help my team any way I can until then. …If I get traded, something happens, that’s what happens. But other than that, right now I’ve just got to do the job, still got to be a pro. At the end of the day, I don’t want to leave a bad taste in my mouth with any of the coaches or anything like that.”

Maske’s says a source told him that the Skins are trying to trade Davis.

“They are trying,” that source said.

Davis made it clear that he never asked to be traded.  He was then asked if he would prefer to be released.

“I don’t really prefer that. I just want to be able to play. That’s what I prefer. I prefer to be playing.”

Davis believes he can still produce at a high level.

“I’m the same player I’ve been the whole time I’ve been here.”
