Falcons left tackle Sam Baker was carted off the field during Saturday night’s preseason game against the Texans.
From the way things looked and sounded, it seems like Baker may have suffered a serious knee injury.
Baker, who’s battled injuries since being taking in the first round of the 2008 draft, was emotional as he took off his helmet and was tended to by the trainers. It was announced as a “knee” injury and that he would not return to the game.
Teammates took off their helmets and watched intensely as the team doctor and athletic trainers tended to Baker. After a few minutes and a stop of play, Baker tentatively rose to his feet and didn’t put his full weight on his right leg as he got on the cart.
It looks like rookie Jake Matthews will have to move to left tackle.
