According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, during training camp Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had an opportunity to trade cornerback Asante Samuel to the Detroit Lions for a 2nd round pick and two second day picks in return.
In the end, Roseman wanted a first round pick and he ended up calling the deal off.
McLane believes because the Eagles didn’t blitz as much this season, Samuel didn’t get to make as many plays. And that because of a down year, it could possibly decrease his trade value.
Samuel still ended up with three interceptions this season and I’m sure teams understand that he had a down year because of the scheme. The Eagles should be able to get at least a second round pick for him.
