Indianapolis Colts linebacker Dwight Freeney is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason and has indicated he would love to retire as a Colt.
“It would be great to finish off my career as an Indianapolis Colt,” Freeney told NFL.com’s Austin Knoblauch. “I’ve been there my whole career, and I don’t know anything different. … Ideally, it would be great to stay there. But it is a business, so we’ll see.
“Right now, I’m just thinking about Indianapolis until they tell me otherwise.”
The problem is that Freeney isn’t a good fit in the Colts 3-4 defense. He truly needs to go back to being a defensive end in a 4-3 because of his lack of coverage skills.
