According to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, a Miami Dolphins source told him that they only offered Matt Flynn $4 million per year because they weren’t convinced he’s a franchise quarterback. The Seahawks ended up agreeing to pay Flynn $8 per season over three years.
I believe the $8 million per year that the Seahawks agreed to pay Flynn, wasn’t a bad deal for either side. Ireland is probably afraid of bringing another quarterback that flames out like Chad Henne did. The next quarterback that he brings in that flops, will be his last and I’m sure he’s well aware of that.

What do the Dolphins know about QB’s since Marino? Oh, how times have changed. Ireland is creating a “Fire Sale” in Miami. What a great franchise and one of the admirable fan bases in the NFL, which leaves me to think. Is this the beginning of the end to the NFL’s reign supreme? Flynn would have been a winning element to the Dolphins, and their committed fans who would have welcomed him with open fins.
