Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt made an appearance on 790 the Zone in Atlanta on Mayhem in the AM and talked about one of the key things that changed his life.
Watt started out his collegiate career at Central Michigan and in between his transfer to the University of Wisconsin, he worked at Pizza Hut.
“When I left Central Michigan I had a plan,” said Watt. “I knew I was going to end up at Wisconsin and I couldn’t enroll until the fall so I needed to have something to fill that transition period and I worked at Pizza Hut for sixth months and went to a local college there in my hometown. Then I walked on with the Badgers and I guess the rest is history from there. It was a humbling experience, it brought me back to earth, and it was a good experience. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t done that.”
Watt also chatted about how well the Texans defense played this past season.
“It was great. I mean the way our guys played together, the way we played for each other, it’s awesome and obviously we had a great defensive year. Played very hard and had a big turnaround so it was good for us and can’t wait to get back to work for next year.”
Watt seems like an up and coming NFL star that is headed in the right direction. He was a great acquisition for the Texans who’ve been doing a great job in the draft over the past few seasons.
