Wide receiver Deion Branch is hopeful that he’ll be back with the New England Patriots in 2012, since he’ll be a free agent on March 13th.
“This is where I want to be, this is where I want to retire,” he said after Sunday’s 21-17 loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. “This is why I came back, for the opportunity to play in this game. I’m pretty sure I will be here in this position next year.”
The Patriots really need to upgrade at the receiver position and build around Wes Welker. There’s a good chance they might decide to pass up on re-signing Branch, who’s clearly on the downside of his career.
