The Washington Redskins signed defensive back DeAngelo Hall to a one year deal about a month after they released him. However, that almost didn’t happen. According to the Washigton Post, Hall considered taking a year off after the team had cut him in March.
“I contemplated not playing this year, to be honest,” Hall said at this week’s minicamp at Redskins Park. “I felt like I could do some things off the field that would have been just as lucrative as coming to play. So I really had to sit back and just examine the situation, see if I did feel like I could do it again. And I felt like I could. I felt like the coaches are going to do a good job of putting me in position to be successful, and that’s all you can ask for.”
Here’s Hall on what made him want to re-sign with the Redskins.
when I saw kind of who was interested, my first thought was to try to get back here. That was my number one priority
Hall was smart to want to return with the Redskins. For a veteran who was overpaid for many years, there just wasn’t going to be a lot of money available for him. Plus, the team is looking like it’s heading in the right direction after winning the NFC East last year for the first time since 1999.
