Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis came out yesterday and claimed that the Dolphins have the best cornerback tandem in the NFL with himself and Sean Smith.
“I’m going to go out on a limb and say we’re the best tandem in the league,” Davis said.
Even when reporters brought up names like Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromarite of the New York Jets, Davis didn’t shy away from his opinion.
“You name them all and I’m putting it out there,” Davis said.
Today Revis was able to respond to Davis’ bold statement by letting him know he needs to watch more game film.
“It really don’t matter because the film don’t lie,” Revis said. “The film don’t lie. You can say what you want to say. You can say the sky is red but it ain’t red. That’s just what it is. We know how we play and we know what we do on that field not just as a corner tandem but as a secondary. We play great football.”
“He’s got to play a couple more years before he’s saying all that,” said Revis. “They’re a good tandem but they have a lot of work to do.”
It should be encouraging to Dolphins fans that Davis is very confident in himself and Smith. But it’s clear that Revis and Cromartie have been arguably the top duo when it comes to cornerbacks in the NFL.
