In the NFL, when opportunity comes your way, it behooves you to catch it. That’s exactly what Danario Alexander did in Thursday night’s game for the San Diego Chargers. Pressed into a starting role when both Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal couldn’t suit up, Alexander, signed just last week, caught all three balls sent his way for a team-high 68 yards.
Meachem, still in the doghouse after dropping a sure handed touchdown pass behind coverage the week before, may well get back on the field, but while he was gone, Norv Turner’s eyes were opened to a new weapon that could eat into his playing time. As Turner told the Sand Diego Union-Tribune, “Danario’s going to play… He’s going to be a big part of what we do. He earned that right.”
