Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Reeves drafted current Eagles quarterback Michael Vick number one overall in the 2001 NFL draft. He now looks back on how the Falcons handled the situation with Vick going to jail for organizing and funding a dog fighting ring and believes they turned their back on him.
“When Mike really needed them they turned their back on him in my opinion,” said Reeves. “They could have been a big supporter and they let him go. I think it could have been handled differently.
“I wasn’t there so I don’t know the organization’s standpoint, but I thought they could have been more supportive and instead they severed ties with him.”
I understand where Reeves is coming from. But Vick made his own bed when he decided to take part in illegal activities.
In defense of the Falcons, there was a lot of uncertainty with whether or not Vick’s career was completely over or not. I believe the only choice the Falcons had was to move on so they could do what they had to do in order to move on and help their team win as soon as possible.

Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease. here’s hoping that Dan’s days won’t be filled with the mind-numbing cognitive and reasoning decline that have already afflicted his clouded mind.
