Those of you that have been covering my Raiders training camp notes (the Raiders are taking a day off of camp today) know that rookie CB D.J. Hayden has not yet been allowed to hit in practice. Hayden has been relegated to non-contact drills stemming from an injury he suffered when he played at the University of Houston that nearly took his life. According to Dennis Allen via SFGate.com the decision of Hayden hitting is at the doctors discretion.
“My anticipation is that at some point in the preseason, he’s going to be cleared to go full contact. And really at the end of the day, that’s a doctor’s decision. -SFGate.com July 31st
The Raiders will patiently wait for the 12th overall pick in this years draft to be ready for the season. Although Hayden feels ready there is no need to rush him.
