When it comes to rookie CB D.J. Hayden my Raiders training camp reports have sounded like a broken record. Everyday since the opening of camp Hayden has been wearing a red non-contact jersey due to an injury he suffered while at Houston that severed his vena cava and nearly killed him. Less than a year after having his chest cracked open to preform emergency surgery Hayden is preparing to play in an NFL game. And it appears he will get that chance in the Raiders 3rd (and most important) preseason game. In an interview with NFL.com Ian Rapoport Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie said
“[After next week], We’ll let him go full-bore — that third (preseason) game, the gloves come off.”- NFL August 9th
The Raiders are hoping for a lot out of their rookies this season and hopefully Hayden will be able to show why he was picked 12th overall when the Raiders meet the Bears in Oakland on August 23rd.
