Despite the reports that the Dallas Cowboys were planning on trading veteran cornerback Mike Jenkins, owner/general manager Jerry Jones has made it clear that they plan on keeping him.
Jones called Jenkins ”a vital part of our plan . . . a very critical role in what we want to be defensively.”
“Jenkins is not only this year, but a long-term player here as far as I’m concerned,” said jones per DallasCowboys.com.
I think Jones and the Cowboys are making a smart move by keeping Jenkins even though they brought in Brandon Carr in free agency and Morris Claiborne via the draft.
I believe the Cowboys will let Jenkins play out the final year of his contract and let him walk in free agency. Unless they can re-sign him for a lot less then he command on the open market.
