Clay Matthews Jr. is the highest paid linebacker in NFL history

Now that the Packers have signed Clay Matthews to a five-year contract that will pay him a total of $66 million, he’s now the highest paid linebacker in NFL history.

Mathews’ contract averages out to $13.2 million per season, which is slightly more than DeMarcus Ware’s contract.

Matthews certainly deserves his new contract.  Hopefully the Packers defense can back him up and actually play well in 2013
