As the San Diego Chargers prepare to face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional round of the playoffs, offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt might have his attention split with something else.
Via Michael Gehlken of the U-T San Diego, The Chargers will let Whisenhunt interview this week with any team looking at him as a potential head coach.
Though Gehlken does say everything will be at the team’s discretion, I’m sure fans of the Chargers won’t like the news. They will say that the distraction of preparing for the interviews will impede on the preparation for the game. While that holds some truth, there’s 120 hours left until then. Can’t you just give the guy just 10-15 hours to try and get a better job? The team will only let him do interviews locally and will get the say when and where.
I’m sure the Lions, Vikings, Redskins, and Titans love the news as they were all reported to be teams interested in the coach that won a Super Bowl with Pittsburgh Steelers as a coordinator and took the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl as a head coach.
