The San Diego Chargers have waived wide receiver Danario Alexander with an injury designation.
Any team that claims Alexander will have to pay his $1.323 million salary and any rehab he’ll undergo. If he clears waivers, which the team is hoping for, Alexander will land on injured-reserve with the Chargers. Alexander tore his ACL on August 6th.
The one silver lining (there really isn’t any) in this is the fact that San Diego will now get to see if the younger receivers can step up. For example, there is Mike Willie. Willie showed promise last year in the Chargers’ training camp and is continuing impressing the team’s coaching staff. He scored two touchdowns in Thursday’s preseason game against the Bears, despite being laid out a couple plays before he scored the first one.
