Chargers sign WR Seyi Ajirotutu

The San Diego Chargers have signed receiver Seyi Ajirotutu on Friday afternoon, the team announced on their website. This comes hours after the team waived receiver Danario Alexander.

This is actually Ajirotutu’s third time with the team, also having spent part of last year with the team and originally made the Chargers’ roster in 2010 as an undrafted rookie out of Fresno State. Ajirotutu spent 2011 with the Carolina Panthers.

Ajirotutu adds a tall target for quarterback Philip Rivers, who excels when he has receivers over 6’2″. The signing comes out of a need of depth for the team. While no star, Ajirotutu brings familiarity for Rivers, who seems to be struggling adapting to new head coach Mike McCoy’s offense that requires quick decisions and even quicker throws.
