The San Diego Chargers have signed undrafted rookie safety Tony Burnett, the team announced on Tuesday.
The corresponding move sees the team waiving injured rookie cornerback Kenny Okoro and quarterback Mike Hermann.
Burnett worked out for the team after he went undrafted but was ultimately unsigned. He spent his collegiate years at Southern Cal.
The move comes out of need for depth. The Chargers will likely start cornerback Marcus Gilchrist at strong safety while Brandon Taylor rehabs a torn ACL.
