According to Greg Bedard of the Boston Glode, the Patriots offensive system threw off wide receiver Chad Ochocinco this past season, which made it very difficult for him to make an impact on offense. He was never able to get on the same page as quarterback Tom Brady.
“They have a quarterback that has played within the same system for a number of years, so he’s so advanced within the system and you have players trying to play within the same system,’’ O’Shea said.
“Tom’s level of advancement in the system is a difference to the new player because he moves fast and they need to move fast with him.’’
I don’t see any reason for the Patriots to keep Ochocinco for next season. If he couldn’t get on the same page as Brady this season, what makes next season any different. he certainly isn’t getting any younger and isn’t worth the $3 million the Patriots are scheduled to pay him in 2012.
