Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton indicated on Wednesday that he’s still optimistic that he’ll be ready for week one of the regular season–after tearing his ACL in his left knee back in January.
“I’m planning on coming back for the season,” Hampton said Wednesday, per ESPN.com. “That’s what I’m looking at. That’s realistic for me. I don’t know about anybody else.
Hampton doesn’t believe the Steelers will place him on the PUP list to start out the season.
“Nah, I can’t see that happening,” he said. “I feel like I’m ready to go.”
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is pretty optimistic about Hampton’s health as well.
“The one edge Casey will have on anybody is that he’s been through this [injury] twice,” Colbert said back in February. “He knows what to expect. He knows how to do this. He knows how much work he has to do and he knows how he feels.”
