Cardinals expected to release Ryan Williams this offseason

Kent Somers of the Arizona republic believes the Cardinals will end up releasing running back Ryan Williams this coming offseason.

The Cardinals would hate to give up on Williams, a second-round pick in 2011. It’s easy to suggest trading him, but after three seasons filled with injuries, Williams has little or no value. The Cardinals could trim $1 million off the 2014 salary cap by parting ways with Williams. Look for that to happen.

It’s a shame that Williams hasn’t worked out in Arizona.  He was such a promising prospect coming out of Virginia Tech.
