Jim Trotter of SI.com made a visit to the Arizona Cardinals training camp and sp0ke with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald about his potential contract extension.
Fitzgerald explained to Trotter that if he doesn’t get an extension by September 4th, (the end of preseason) he won’t sit down and discuss a new contract with the Cardinals until after this season.
Trotter asked Fitgerald how close each side is to getting a deal at this time.
“Closer than we were last week,” Fitzgerald said.
Then Trotter asked how close are they to reaching an agreement.
“Not too far away,” said Fitzgerald.
Trotter believes that a deal will get done between Fitzgerald and the Cardinals before training camp ends on September 4th.
I agree with Trotter, I believe the Cardinals will get a deal done soon. They know they can;t afford to let Fitzgerald become a free agent in the offseason.
