Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson took a shot to the head from Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway a couple of weeks ago and admits that when you get hit like that you have to keep playing, even if you suffer a concussion.
“He rung my bell pretty good, he got me, he caught me around the chin, that was a good hit,” Johnson said, per CBS Detroit. “It’s a part of football, you get concussed, you gotta keep on playing. You can’t get afraid to go across the middle any more than you were at the beginning.”
I’m sure the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell are cringing when they read or hear something like this from one of their players.
Whether Johnson was tested for a concussion or not after being hit by Greenway, the NFL needs to investigate how he stayed in the game because he did look out of it.
