According to Mark Cook of the Pewter Report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik was a guest on NFL Total Access on Friday night and was asked how confident he is that cornerback Darrelle Revis will be ready for week one.
“Fully confident,” Dominik said. “He’s in great shape right now, he’s running full speed, he’s cutting, he’s doing all the things we’d want him to do from a training standpoint, a rehabilitation standpoint.
“We’re going to keep him at our pace, but the whole point is that he’ll walk out to the first day of training camp, he’ll have the pads on and he’ll be ready hopefully for the Jets (in) Week 1. We’re expecting that.”
Revis told the media on Wednesday that he’s confident he’ll be ready for the Jets.
“I am confident,” Revis said. “I am cutting. [Trainer] Todd [Toriscelli] might tell me to slow down a little bit, but I am going forward and I am cutting because I feel good. I am cutting and running and doing what I have to do. I still have to listen to Todd and go through the process for them to clear me to get back on the field.
“I feel myself getting in shape. It is certain steps through this process and we got to knock those steps down when they approach. That is how you got to handle this situation. When those steps approach you, you knock them down and if it is a step back it is a step back. If it is a step forward then you move forward.”
