Bucs are “over paying for Revis”

Almost everyone has chimed in now on the Darrelle Revis-to-Bucs speculation both locally and nationally. Opinions have varied many have voiced their thoughts on a potential deal for Revis the Bucs may offer.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio was on-air with 620 WDAE’s Steve Duemig and discussed the potential deal between both sides.

If it is true, if the Bucs’ general manager Mark Dominik and Greg Schiano the head coach — both of whom I have a lot of respect for — if they are offering their first pick, plus some, if that is truly what’s on the table, I tell you the Jets are really misguided if they don’t take that deal….

…I have a different take than a lot of different people about this. Again, I have respect for Dominik and  Schiano, but I think they’re over paying for Revis. If they’re the only team in the game, why are they negotiating against themselves?

Very strong, valid words there from “Sal Pal”. And ones that many have already discussed.

My belief is that this year’s “first and more” offer that was reported earlier in the week may be a stretch. Because if that was truly the offer, then why have the Jets not accepted the offer? Why are talks/discussions at an alleged impasse? Are the Jets really in that much of a discord that they do not see a good deal when there is one?

Paolantonio also mentions in the interview that no one can possibly know what they are getting into with Revis due to his ACL injury — which has been debated often. However, the Buccaneers may have enough to not feel as concerned as others or else they would not be making a hard attempt to acquire his services.

As the draft approaches, more reports will begin to surface. It’ll be within these next two weeks where we’ll know more.
