According to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, the Cleveland Browns look like they’re really interested in former Alabama running back Trent Richardson.
Browns general manager Tom heckert and head coach Pat Shurmur both attended Alabama’s pro day to check out Richardson.
This week, Shurmur was asked what he thought about Richardson.
“I’m not going to talk about my five guys (in the running). He is an outstanding player … he’s been very productive on a team that’s won a lot of games,” said Shurmur.
The Tampa Bay Times is also reporting that the Buccaneers are strongly considering drafting Richardson with the fifth overall pick in next month’s draft.
Bucs general manager mark Dominik and head coach Greg Schiano didn’t attend the Alabama pro day, but they plan on scheduling a private work out soon.
If the Bucs really want Richardson they might have to trade up to the third pick to snatch him up, since the Browns are also interested in him with the fourth overall pick.
Matt Miller of New Era Scouting has also heard that both the Buccaneers and Browns are very interested in Richardson.
Draft day should be very interesting this year.Follow PFZ on Twitter @ProFootballZone
