According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal, the Cleveland Browns have signed linebacker D’Qwell Jackson to a multi-year extension.
The Browns were going to use their franchise tag on Jackson if they couldn’t get a deal done. Now they can use it on running back Peyton Hillis or any other player if they choose to.
Jackson had 158 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception in 2011.
As soon as we get the details of his contract, we’ll update this post.
Update: Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Jackson’s deal is for 5 years $42.5 million, with $19 million in guarantees and bonuses.
