The Denver Broncos director of player personnel Matt Russell indicated that they took running back Montee Ball over Eddie Lacy because of concerns over Lacy’s toe.
“We liked both these backs. We were worried about a toe injury that (Lacy) had,” said Russell, per Anthony Mason of MaxDenver.com.
Like many other people, Russell believes concerns over Lacy’s toe caused him to fall.
Russell also said that they were concerned with how long Lacy can play before his career would be over,” per Lindsey Jones of the NFL Network.
I believe Ball is a much better back than Lacy. I’ve never seen a player receive so much hype over one game ( the BCS National title game).
